Background: Akira was around ten years old when the world fell apart. The boundary between reality and soulscape, splintered, beings of myth crossing the gap into the material world - his sister kidnapped by angels, then left to rot in their ark - the ceaseless flow of demons into Tokyo - the city's descent into anarchy when people abandoned their humanity in exchange for the power to fight back. It's been 25 years of endless violence since then, and for Akira - near-powerless, even after electing to become a demonoid himself - an object lesson in the value of law and order.

A prophetic dream about Intruders who would kill Tokyo's standing king was Akira's big chance to seize influence and force reform upon the city. When the visitors arrived from another world, seeking to return to their own, he steered them to wipe out his enemies and took the credit for their victories, quickly ascending to become the new King.

Under his command, the welfare of the remnants of humanity - cruelly modified to provide demonoids with a "sustainable" food source - began to improve almost immediately. But there's still plenty of work to be done, and with the Intruders gone, it's up to fate to see whether Akira's order can survive challengers.

Personality: The real Akira is keenly clever, generally kind, and a little bit hard on himself, with a talent for leadership. But most people don't see the real Akira - they're treated to the tough, sly, nearly-unflappable facade that keeps him alive and in control in his Tokyo. To potential friends, he's witty, amiable, and self-assured. To his allies, he's the man who makes things happen, willing to beg, borrow, and steal to deliver on a promise and cement himself as the guy worth keeping around. And to the enemies he knows he can't deal with, he's bumbling and harmless, the punching bag who can move around the city without raising concern - because what could Akira the scavenger ever be capable of?

Abilities: Akira is a demonoid - the result of fusing a human with a demon - but it didn't confer enough advantages on him to put him on par with other supernatural beings. He's a little more resilient than the average human, but in a place like Verens, he's nothing special.

Other: As a part-demon, he requires a healthy amount of emotions, memories, and thoughts in his daily diet. And none of this energy-draining nonsense, either, it has to be something he can swallow (chewing optional). Luckily, Verens is the kind of place where those things are in abundant supply, but in a pinch, human neurotransmitters do the job...
